HC Kharkiv faced HC Khmelnytskyi in Round 2 of the 2026/27 Ukrainian Super League. Kharkiv made an impressive start and went into half-time ahead, but the hosts turned the game around after the break to claim a 40:34 victory.

Kharkiv dominated the opening minutes. By the seventh minute, the visitors had already established a five-goal advantage at 6:1. Khmelnytskyi responded strongly, reducing the deficit to 7:6 by the 13th minute before completing the comeback and moving ahead 9:7.

The game then became much more balanced. By the 19th minute, Khmelnytskyi's advantage had been reduced to just one goal at 11:10. Kharkiv regained the initiative towards the end of the first half and led 18:15 with just over a minute remaining.

Kharkiv, however, refused to let the game slip away. The visitors gradually reduced the gap and, with just over 11 minutes remaining, had pulled back to 30:29, bringing the match back to a one-goal contest.

The closing stages ultimately belonged to Khmelnytskyi. The hosts rebuilt their advantage, and with less than three minutes remaining the scoreboard showed 37:34. Kharkiv were unable to produce another comeback in the final minutes.

For HC Kharkiv, the match featured two contrasting halves: an excellent opening and a first-half lead, followed by a strong response from the home side after the break. Despite the six-goal final margin, Kharkiv managed to fight their way back to within a single goal during the second half, but Khmelnytskyi proved stronger in the decisive closing minutes.
